A trip into town
Saturday afternoon I went into Cheltenham with my wife for a bit of spontaneous shopping. Went to the camera shop to get a case and more cards for my new camera (the sony dsc-h9) and ended up ordering a wide angle converter and a telephoto extender. I tried to get a skylight (uv) filter but they said there wasn't one. Can't believe that - still I'll get the extenders and see how they fit and then get the appropriate filter size. The bag I got was a very tight fit if you have the hood on the camera but fine if not.
We also went to a bookshop that was closing down - in the morning they had been selling everything off for a pound, but in the afternoon they had reduced the price to 50p. My wife bought plenty of stuff, but I couldn't find anything I really wanted, so I didn't bother - we've got enough clutter in the house, especially books!
On the walk into town from parking, we passed the Montpellier Gardens which have just been reopened after being "done up" - which seemed to consist mainly of new fencing. But there was a band playing, a bit of a fun fare and a few side stalls - actually not a very impressive performance at all - although the band was good. There were plenty of old people around in chairs though - I don't think it was designed to be attractive to younger people!
Here's a few photos (from my pocket Olympus mju740).
